One to Watch: KwangHo Shin

Each week, we showcase an emerging artist from around the world who is already garnering attention for their work. Taking inspiration from the Saatchi Gallery’s 25-year history of discovering new talent, ‘One To Watch’ presents some of the most exciting artists on Saatchi Online helping collectors to identify strong emerging talent.

This week’s One to Watch featured artist is KwangHo Shin.

KwangHo Shin is a graduate in fine art from Keimyung University in South Korea. This young, emerging artist based in Seoul is rapidly becoming known around the world for his portraits of people, characterised by a particular focus on his subjects’ eyes. With arresting colors and abstract paint strokes, he uses oil and acrylic to create his stunning portraits which range in size and price, starting at $320. This year he is already scheduled to have 5 exhibitions so our advice would be to strike now and invest in an art star of the future.

  1. How will be the KwangHo Shin’s work when he stop being a young emerging artist?
The work is just amazing! He is one more proof that the painting is alive and constantly regenerates itself. In KwangHo Shin’s painting I admire his capacity to work in a remarkable way between the accurate and inaccurate. Hide / unhide seems to be the ongoing task to reach the equilibrium point, such as a acrobat, without falling into the obvious or fashion effects. It is a work that grabs us. Moreover the color is excellently worked.
    Congratulations and lots of success!
